Multitechnical solutions for a hospital expansion in La Louvière / CHU Tivoli
The Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Tivoli in La Louvière expanded its hospital with a new wing to meet the growing demand for capacity and modern healthcare infrastructure.
In partnership with VMA, EEG Group delivered an integrated multitechnical approach that contributes to efficient healthcare delivery and optimal comfort for patients and staff.
A strategic expansion focused on healthcare quality
The existing hospital consisted of three wings (A, B and C) arranged in a tripod structure. With the construction of Wing K, CHU Tivoli added a future-oriented extension designed to respond to the evolving needs of the healthcare sector.
The new wing comprises 162 patient rooms, laboratories and office spaces, spread across 29,400 m² and seven levels. Three levels are dedicated to core infrastructure, one level to technical installations and three levels to hospitalisation facilities.
In addition, two esplanades – one logistical and one entrance esplanade – provide seamless connections between the new and existing buildings, significantly improving circulation and operational efficiency.
Integrated technologies for a high-performance hospital
The extension is a true multitechnical project, with EEG Group responsible for a comprehensive range of technical installations. By integrating these technologies, a reliable and highly efficient healthcare environment was created.
EEG’s scope included:
• Electrical installations
• Fire detection systems across multiple floors
• Access control throughout all levels
• Ventilation systems, including those serving 10 operating theatres
• Medical gas installations
These works were carried out in a temporary partnership with VMA. Thanks to close coordination between all stakeholders, the various technical systems were seamlessly integrated, which is essential in a complex healthcare environment.
Sanitary installations as a critical success factor
EEG Namur was responsible for the complete management of the sanitary installations. In a hospital environment, these systems are essential for hygiene, safety and continuity of care.
The project involved several significant challenges. All installations had to comply with strict healthcare standards while ensuring that the existing hospital wings remained fully operational throughout the works.
This required:
• Detailed planning and phased execution
• Precise coordination between all involved teams
• Flexibility to respond to unforeseen circumstances
Particular attention was also paid to integrating the sanitary systems with other technical disciplines such as electrical installations, heating and ventilation. This ensured uninterrupted service for patients, staff and visitors at all times.
