Multitechnical installations for Grand Hôpital de Charleroi (GHDC)
One of the largest hospital projects in Wallonia
A flagship project for EEG in Wallonia
The Grand Hôpital de Charleroi (GHDC) is one of the largest hospital projects in Wallonia. EEG carried out the works as part of a temporary consortium with other technical partners and was responsible for a wide range of technical installations, including electrical systems, HVAC, sanitary installations and the implementation of a Building Management System (BMS) that centrally manages and monitors all building services.
A multitechnical approach for maximum efficiency
For EEG, this project represented an opportunity to fully leverage its extensive experience in the healthcare sector. The project involved much more than simply installing technical systems; it also required the coordination and management of a large-scale multitechnical project.
Through this integrated approach, EEG aims to improve the comfort of end users – patients and healthcare professionals alike – and, in doing so, quite literally bring buildings to life.
A strong presence in Wallonia and Brussels
The GHDC project builds on a series of previous healthcare projects, including CHU Tivoli (La Louvière), MontLégia (Liège) and Cliniques de l’Europe (Brussels). These references demonstrate EEG’s ability to successfully manage the complexity of major hospital developments through an experienced and specialised team.
Beyond the healthcare sector, EEG has also established a strong track record with projects such as the military air base in Florennes and the SHAPE facilities in Soignies.
The GHDC project further strengthens the role of EEG Namur as a key pillar in the continued growth of EEG in Wallonia. The Namur branch plays a crucial role in building a multidisciplinary team with the expertise required to support future projects throughout the region.
The expertise of EEG Medical
An important part of the project was delivered by EEG Medical, which specialises in medical gas networks and healthcare equipment installations.
Within the GHDC project, EEG Medical was responsible for the installation of bedhead units equipped with connections for medical gases, electrical outlets and healthcare accessories.
The project presented considerable challenges, particularly because a wide variety of bedhead units had to be tailored to the specific requirements of each hospital department. Thanks to close collaboration with the other EEG teams, the most appropriate solutions for end users could be implemented throughout the project.
A project with long-term value
For EEG, GHDC is more than just an impressive construction project; it is a strategic reference project that supports the company’s ambitions in Wallonia and Brussels.
With this hospital, EEG confirms its strength as a multitechnical partner while laying the foundations for further growth in the region.
For CEO Didier Vanden Broucke, a project of this scale in Wallonia is particularly significant for EEG: “It is an exceptional opportunity to showcase our expertise in multitechnical solutions and healthcare projects while at the same time creating a strong reference and a solid foundation for our presence in Wallonia and Brussels.”
