The new capacity tariff only affects the network tariff that you pay as an organisation. This means the costs of electricity transmission, installation, use and maintenance of the electricity grid. You pay this to the distribution system operator via your energy supplier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the network tariff is calculated partly on the basis of consumption (kWh) and partly on the basis of power or capacity (kW). From January 2023, the full cost will only be based on your peak consumption. As always, the surcharges in the network tariffs are, like the price of energy and taxes, based on consumption. In other words, the capacity tariff affects only one component of the invoice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The capacity tariff is only a small part of the energy bill; energy consumption is still the main component. From our simulation we have seen that it is better to set the access capacity a little too high than too low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you anticipate that the consumed capacities will increase (e.g. installation of an additional chiller), you must increase the access capacity in good time in order to avoid the excess tariff for 12 months. An increase in access capacity can be arranged monthly, a reduction only once a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding and controlling your peak power will become increasingly important in the future. That is why it is important to include this in your energy management right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
