Multitechnical solutions for the expansion of Klaverveld residential care centre in Zedelgem

Seamless preparation by the Project Engineering team makes the difference.

Klaverveld Residential Care Centre opened its doors in 2017 and planned a significant expansion for 2025. By the end of December, thirty additional residential units are scheduled to be completed, complementing the 145 existing rooms. A key feature of the new development is its focus on specific target groups.

Six of the new rooms will be reserved exclusively for short-term stays, allowing elderly people to recover after a hospital stay or receive temporary care when a caregiver is unavailable. The extension will also include five units for couples where one partner requires care, enabling them to continue living together while benefiting from the necessary medical support and assistance. In addition, five rooms will be dedicated to residents requiring palliative care.

The new building will be seamlessly connected to the existing care centre, with all residential units located on the first floor. The ground floor will provide additional space for staff, logistics and administration. The plans also include a multipurpose hall and a green inner courtyard.

A smooth project start thanks to Project Engineering

To ensure a smooth start to the expansion works, the Project Engineering team at EEG Gullegem dedicated significant attention to the preparation phase. Even before construction began, the team consolidated all plans, technical specifications and client requirements into one clear and comprehensive project file.

At EEG Gullegem, the Project Engineering team lays the foundation for every successful project. For Klaverveld, the focus was on thorough preparation and smart prefabrication solutions. By carefully designing connectors, modules and schematics down to the smallest detail, the installation teams were able to work quickly, efficiently and error-free. The team also oversees the timely ordering and correct labelling of all materials, ensuring that everyone involved knows exactly what to expect and when.

The Klaverveld expansion as a best-practice example

During the preparation phase of the Klaverveld expansion, the Project Engineering team worked out every detail meticulously. Under the supervision of Donald Devos, project engineers Michiel Plovie and Wim Vandewalle mapped all technical details using the appropriate engineering tools. Everything was closely coordinated with site manager Jurgen Hoornaert, project manager Kurt Huysentruyt and project manager Fries Vanneste.
Draftsman Kevin Demortier produced clear and detailed plans, while Louise Devos developed the electrical schematics down to the finest details. Despite the numerous changes compared to the original tender specifications, the project is progressing exceptionally smoothly.

“For the efforts of the Project Engineering team to deliver their full value, clear communication is an essential link. At regular intervals, Project Engineering and Project Management align their planning, address bottlenecks and closely monitor follow-up actions. This ensures that everything runs smoothly for everyone involved and enables us to deliver outstanding projects as sustainably as possible, such as the expansion of Klaverveld Residential Care Centre in Zedelgem.”
